Class of 2010 Graduation Mass & Ceremony

Please join us on Friday, May 28th, at 6:00 p.m. for our Graduation Mass & Ceremony, held at St. Peter's in Carencro.  Father Keenan Brown will celebrate the Mass, and our ceremony will follow immediately thereafter.

Attendance is mandatory for high schoolers, who should be in their Friday uniform, but all PJPA students, families, and friends are invited.  The more, the merrier.

The families of our graduates (Quinn Hebert and Wesley LeJeune) also encourage anyone in attendance to join their reception, immediately following the ceremony, in the parish hall.

Welcome

Pope John Paul II Academy is a private, Catholic, lay-owned, college preparatory school in Lafayette, Louisiana, serving students and their families by providing a classical liberal arts education in grades PK4-12. Students are expected to achieve academically beyond their expectations, to grow spiritually through study, worship, and service, and to become leaders and role models within their secular and church communities, as exemplified in their daily lives.  At opening convocation each year, faculty, staff, board members, and students will make an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium, promising to serve the Church in ways that the Holy Spirit calls them.

A Message from the President

As Roman Catholic parents, our primary vocation is to ensure the salvation of our children. All of us at Pope John Paul II Academy are privileged that you have chosen us to be part of your and your family's journey in this life.Photo of Dr. Roberts

With that privilege, however, comes responsibilities. Our tripartite mission—spiritual formation, academic knowledge, and physical growth—requires a steadfast commitment from me, the Academy’s faculty, and its Board of Trustees. In a society beset with despair and loss of faith, the Gospel message brings hope. It is that hope that we share with each other and with our community. As Christians, we are “in the world, but not of it” (John 17). Your continued prayers for Pope John Paul II Academy and for those of us dedicated to fulfilling its mission will always be a source of inspiration.

Naturally, as a new school, “excitement” best defines our mood, whether we are students, teachers, or administrators. As that excitement turns into the routine of the school year, we will turn our focus from the newness of the Academy to the goals that our students have for their future. As a faculty, our teaching will be driven by our conviction that master teachers equip their students with the knowledge and skills to turn their dreams into reality

With that strategy to guide our instruction, and with the Holy Spirit to reveal to us where the future of the Academy lies, the next year promises to be an exhilarating experience. May the Lord continue to bless us with the grace and confidence to always answer “Yes!” to His call. Our patron, Pope John Paul the Great, would ask for nothing less.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Kevin D. Roberts, Ph.D.
